How can I detect the inputs from a parallel port

Trying to rebuild the projects on RAPHNET.net for Controller and Memory Card to parallel.
I have diagramed (key) the back of the greenboard the PSX memory cards and controllers are connected to.

I have some ideas to move forward but I need a way to see the inputs from the parallel port. Can linux do this magical thing? Cuz I'm getting no help from WinXP apparently.

Yes, I know there's not enough power from the parallel for all this. That's actually the next step is figuring out how how much power I need to supply.

I'm not sure I understand the problem. The page you linked to has information on how to get the Linux kernel to use the adapter it is describing. Is that not working?

the problem is that i'm going to be including entire psx memory and controller setup. It has 2 of each. The RaphNet.net projects are individually designed. They are also designed for going straight into the controller or memory card, but I've noted at least one resistor exists on the module i'm using, possibly to identify the plyr 1 and plyr 2 slots.
