Unhappy How can I convert my ext3 partitions to ext2 ?

I found out that Powerquest Drive Image supports ext2 partitions. Is there a safe way to convert my system (which is 100% etx3) to ext2 partitions?

Also is there any danger of corrupting/damaging data such as Oracle or Postgress data on my box if i do this ?

And finally, what's the differences from ext2 and ext3, and should I care?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ext3 adds new thing to ext2: journaling. You can mount ext3 partition as ext2, so I guess it will work (but I'm not sure what you'd like to do). The only thing you may lose is the journaling info.

it should work fine as ext3, as it's just ext2 PLUS journaling.

as Mara said you can just mount it as an ext2 and that'll work as well, it'll just ignore the journal file
