How can I achieve pseudo-transparency on Xorg?

Current setup: i3-gaps window manager on Arch Linux

I read the Wikipedia article on pseudo-transparency, and it seems to suggest that the X window system has built-in pseudo-transparency capabilities. If so, how can I enable those pseudo-transparency features? Otherwise, can I use a compositor to achieve pseudo-transparency? (I'm very new to all this Xorg/X11/Wayland/compositor stuff, so I'm really confused about all of these terms!)

Thanks

You need to install an add-on

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Picom

That is just one option to use

Look into compton also googgle around about it. Too it depends on the application you're using. Terminal's if they're capable of doing transparency or not. You need to do a little digging.

OK, I managed to get Picom working with pseudo-transparency (https://github.com/yshui/picom/issue...ment-560022797) using the --transparent-clipping and --experimental-backends options.
