how can I access remote drives?

Hello,

I really just need a push in the right direction. I need to access a remote drive (ie. I am in AZ and the drive is in OH) and tried mounting it, but that didn't seem to work. I also saw some info on ssh or telnet - but I really don't know how to use those yet. Before I waste time learning I wanted to ask what would be the best way to do this?

I need to access both a remote WinXP drive and a Linux drive. I am using FC2.

thanks!

spicy

to share Drives between Unix / Linux Machines, install and setup NFS (network file system).
to share Drives between a Mix or Windows / Linux / Unix machines, install SAMBA.

there's your push.. need any more help ?
try out the search function on this site, questions on samba have been asked and answered a million times.

thanks for the reply, however I was looking more into how to access a drive that is not on my LAN. I want to access a drive through TCP/IP - and was wondering what I could use to do that.

So you are saying yo want to download / upload files ????

use FTP.
if files contain sencitive info, use FTP through an SSH tunnel.
