i have a 1 gig HDrive that i want to build a linux box with...i'm totally new to linux and wanted to try mandrake 8.0,i've already d/l'd it.......will this be enough?? basically all it will doing is acting as a gateway for my DSL with 2 win98SE boxes coming off of it...and maybe a counterstrike server if possible....any help would be apreciated...

thats plenty.

Your gateway/CS-server won't need X-Windows or HTTP or FTP or any of that. There is also about a thousand text editors and other apps you won't need.

Do a custom install and you get the most flexibility as what packages you want.

Hi,
I run SuSE 7.1 on a 1.2gb hdd. after the initial install i had about 8% of my hd left. Since then i have eliminated a lot of stuff (don't really need 6 text editors do i, or 2 or 3 cd players etc.) Have about 28% of the hd free now. So as long as you get rid of some of the stuff 1gb ought to work fine.

You can run a router off a floppy disk.
Of course.. not a CS server though.
