Hot Keys in GNOME

Is there a way that I can create a hotkey value to launch a GNOME application?

For example, I installed 3ddesk, and I want to use a key combo like ctrl+d to use it.

you can use "xbindkeys" to bind any keypress to any program. I don't know 3ddesk, so I'm not sure what you mean by the phrase "to use it.", so if it's something different than running a program, please explain.

You might want to consider how you're going to input EOF to CLI-based programs (if you are hell-bent on rebinding C-d, that is).
