I'm a relative newbie to Linux. I'll give you some background.

I have an Apache server running as a torrent server. I recently decided to host a website locally on the linux box and installed vsftpd so that I could upload my site to /var/www, this worked fine and I can access it through my dynamic DNS account.

The problem now is that I purchased a Domain Name so that I could use a proper site address with www at the front as people were finding it difficult with the HTTP:// prefix.

I want to link my domain name to my website hosted on my linux box.

How do I do that?

You either have to set up a local DNS service (how this is done depends on the distribution you're running) or use a public (possibly free) DNS server/service, e.g. OpenDNS or FreeDNS (there are other services, of course. DynDNS also offers such a service, but I didn't research that.
