Hosed my Linux box, help!

Not sure if it is recoverable but I will try to be as informative as I can. It was a dark and stormy nite........................ Well really it was a situation that I was installing some packages for my Creative Live sndcd and I had to go to midnight commander to add a couple lines in " /etc/modules.conf" and at first I did and I retracted my additions thinking I forgot something. Well after rereading the tutorial I decided that everything was OK to install the 2 lines and when I went back to "/etc/modules.conf" I couldn't add the 2 lines, so I got mad and pushed some keys on my keyboard and added some letters to the last line that had something to do with nVidia (I have an nVidia GeForce 2 MX 400) and I removed what I thought were the wrong letters; I think I removed more than I should've, not sure. So then I went back to my desktop and decided to go online and the modem would just hang and not connect. So I decided to reboot and when it got to "X" it stopped and took me to [root@localhost] so I did XFdrake --expert and changed my "XFree 4.2.1" to "XFree 3.3.6" (something I did earlier when having probs installing the nVidia 4191 drivers) and still "X" would not start. So I went to "mc" again and tried to figure out what I did and..........................to be honest I don't have a clue. Except to to say I was getting madder and madder and hitting the "ESC" key and the left side of the "mc" page last showed: " /" & "/ME" & "/home" and then just "/". I couldn't change it back to normal so I shut down and restarted and when it started to load it got to the point of: "ENTER Runlevel:", so I typed in "5" and got: "INIT: Entering runlevel 5" "INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel" . So I rebooted and went to failsafe and I basically went thru the same process with the same results. I then put in the MDK CD and went to rescue and tried to "Reinstall Bootloader" and got an error of: "map_insert_file: map write: No space left on device " . Hopefully this info helps. I would hate to have to reload MDK and lose everything, again. I've been running MDK for about 1 year; MDK 8.1 and now MDK 9.0.

Later. Pepse.
