holding down arrow key doesn't work in acroread

Hi,
in acroread when I press and hold down arrow key, it doesn't repeat (it scrolls down just a line or two).

Does anyone know why this happens? pressing and holding arrow keys works in all other programs (konsole, firefox...)

I'm using gentoo and I checked acroread versions 9.1.2 and 8.1.6.

Thanks

I really don't understand your question. You say that the arrow "doesn't repeat". I have no idea what that means. Repeat what??? Remember you cannot edit anything using acroread. It is a viewer. And when I use the arrow keys in FFx they do exactly the same as what they do in Acroread: they scroll in the direction of the arrow. On the other hand Konsole is a terminal and the arrow behaviour is entirely different as you would expect.
cheers,

What I mean is:
when I press "down arrow" key, acroread scrolls down one or two lines; when I keep "down arrow" key pressed, it should keep scrolling down; in my case it doesn't (when I press and hold the key, it scrolls down just one or two lines and then doesn't do anything).

But in forefox it works as expected - it keeps scrolling down until the end of the page.

Hope its clearer now.
Thanks

If you're still talking about acroread then holding down the down arrow keeps it scrolling down until you run out of pages or take your finger off. Have you tried this on different .pdf files, particularly those with lots of pages?

Hi,
Yes, I'm still talking about acroread.
I tried down arrow, left arrow, page up/down on different pdfs (from internet, created myself, with 1 or many pages) and these keys don't work as expected.
It's annoying, but I guess I'll have to live with that.
Thanks for your help anyway.

What thing came to mind: what version of acroread are you using? I'm using 9.1. Also there are other pdf readers that you can use that may not have this problem such as kpdf or xpdf, etc. Why should you suffer quietly? You deserve better. ;)

I'm using 9.1.2. Arrow keys work fine in kpdf, so I'll just start using this reader.
Thanks for your help,
Tomasz

I have exactly the same problem. However, in my case the problem appeared after one of the routine updates (I no longer remember which one). I am using ubuntu 9.04, at least with 8.10 everything worked fine.
