you have to run the file it specifies first. For some reason,i could never get mine to work properly until i made everything run not in a windows by commenting out this line in the config file:

Code:
;Desktop = 1280x1024
just put a ; in front of the line if its not already there.
Then, run:

Code:
cedega /path/to/dvd/msiexec.exe
once that is complete, you should be able to install with no problem. I have been playing it for about 2 weeks without any trouble. On a side note, i hope you legally own this. I only say this because i have never got a "no steam" patch to work. I bought an ATI card for a windows machine over a year ago, and was supposed to get HL2 for free when it came out. Now, i run linux. And i downloaded the game via steam and had trouble with it. I downloaded an .ISO image of the game from a well know torrent site, since i am legally entitled to the game. Plugged in my legitimate serial number from the card packaged with the old ATI graphics card, and it worked with no trouble. So, again, as long as you're not sing a crack of any sort, it should work fine. If you still have trouble, post at the transgaming web site. If you subscribe to Cedega, Wulfram will help you. ANd if you no longer have a subscription, just browse transgaming's forum, as this issue has been covered several times.

You should install msiinstaller to install *.msi files. You can find a lot of helpful information on http://www.frankscorner.org

Possible InternetExplorer will be required. This tool will help you to download and install IE6 on WINE:
http://sidenet.ddo.jp/winetips/config.html

I run HL/CS/CZ and HL2 perfectly on Barton2500/RAM256. Even better than Win2k because I can remove a lot of stuff from memory like KDE (unlike of windoze). HL2 is very slow on 256ram on windoze and is good on linux.
