Hit Windows key to launch a program

I am using GNOME. I am trying to get the Windows key to run a program that I am writing.

In keyboard preferences, there does not appear to be any option to a particular keystroke to launch a program via this method, but the Windows key is recognized as Super_L and can be used to perform other tasks.

How can I get a program to launch whenever the Windows key is pressed in GNOME?

the way i do this is to use xev and xmodmap w/.Xmodmap

sorry to be brief but see my sig for a great tutorial, this works for any keys AFAIK (that create X events anyway)
