histogram of an image

I'm looking for an app that just produces a histogram of an image. I've looked at Imagemagik, but on a i5 it can take 10-15 minutes to generate the histogram image of a tif file. The best option would be an app that could load a Cannon raw image and produce a histogram in under a minute.

Thx in Advance,

Terry

Does using dcraw to convert it to an image first help cut down that time? Since it converts it to a netpbm image, perhaps one of the netpbm histogram tools would help do it faster.

gimp , krita , nip2 or any editor

for a terminal command and X11 - use G'Mic
Code:
gmic image.tiff -display_histogram
a slightly large map of Pluto ( 18630 x 9315 tiff grayscale image ) took about 3 seconds
a rgb image of the earth ( 21000 x 10800 RGB tiff ) took about 20 seconds
