Hiding a program from the taskbar

I was wondering if it was possible to hide a program so that it doesn't show up in the task bar. I have tried to use "kstart --skiptaskbar progname" and that works for most programs but i want to hide a java program that must be run using the syntax

java -jar jarfile.jar

I have tried to use kstart --skiptaskbar java -jar jarfile.jar
but that doesn't work. Any suggestions?
