HFS+ file systems in Linux?

Newbie question - which distros will install linux on a HFS+ partition? I ask because I want to build a RAID server using SATA drives - will SATA drives be a problem?

Basically, I just want a file server, web server, and possibly a streaming server. I have done this with different versions of RedHat in the past, but I always have problems backing anything up off of my OS X machines (due to the long file names).

Any advice would be appreciated.
