HFS CD-ROM

At one point you could mount HFS CD-ROMs using Linux out of the box but this time I get:

"mount: /tmp/macCD: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sr0, missing codepage or helper program, or other error."

I am doing this command:
sudo mount /dev/cdrom macCD where macCD in this case is a folder in "/tmp"

This is Fedora 30. What has changed or am I doing wrong?

I would first try specifying the full path to macCD (/tmp/macCD?).

Just for curiosity, why would you put a mountpoint in /tmp and not in /media or some other location specifically intended for mountpoints?

The full command did not work.(same error)

I can't remember why I started mounting things in "/tmp", but I think it's because at this time, it's just a test and when I get it working I'll find a better location and write a script for it.

On most Linux systems, a CD/DVD will be accessible under the /media or /media/user directory. Is that option not available? What's on the CD/DVD, data or some Apple software? Have you mounted and used this particular CD/DVD successfully in the past?

Check out teckk's links. You don't have HFS support and need to install the appropriate fedora package(hfsprogs?) to get it. It is not installed by default most, if not all, distros. RH, and fedora by extension, is extremely paranoid about distributing anything proprietary or patent encumbered and HFS is an Apple proprietary filesystem. Not that familiar with fedora so you might be better off asking on a fedora specific forum on where to get the hfsprogs package.

I had it at one point(previous version of the distro) but don't anymore, weird, have to look around for it.
