I can't remember why I started mounting things in "/tmp", but I think it's because at this time, it's just a test and when I get it working I'll find a better location and write a script for it.
On most Linux systems, a CD/DVD will be accessible under the /media or /media/user directory. Is that option not available? What's on the CD/DVD, data or some Apple software? Have you mounted and used this particular CD/DVD successfully in the past?
Check out teckk's links. You don't have HFS support and need to install the appropriate fedora package(hfsprogs?) to get it. It is not installed by default most, if not all, distros. RH, and fedora by extension, is extremely paranoid about distributing anything proprietary or patent encumbered and HFS is an Apple proprietary filesystem. Not that familiar with fedora so you might be better off asking on a fedora specific forum on where to get the hfsprogs package.
