Here is my final step for downloading and installation of realplayer(realone)

Hello
i am sucsessfull with these steps.
here is link for proper version of real player for unix/linux
http://proforma.real.com/real/playe...html#webvisions

if linn does work then Here is how to get it:

1) Goto http://scopes.real.com/real/player/unix/unix.html
2) Fill in the form and Choose Linux 2.x (libc6 i386).
Do *not* choose the RPM version.
3) click on "Download Community Supported Player"
4) Don't click on the normal download links. Go look at the very
bottom of the page. You will see

" RealOne Player for Unix - Preview Release
If you would like to try the alpha version of RealOne Player for
Linux 2.2 x86, use the button below."

now 2nd step to install and configure

login as root
Start Xwindows and open terminal (programe list--> System tools --> Terminal )

change directory where u download realone
cd /where u download realplayer
ls (will show dir list and proper file name)

use this following commands (if file name is different then chage it)

1- chmod u+x r1p1_linux22_libc6_i386_a1.bin

2- ./r1p1_linux22_libc6_i386_a1.bin
will start setup

Real One Player plugin for Mozilla

I was able to install Real One Player using these directions. Anyone know where the Real One Player plugin for Mozilla is located?

Guys, I followed the above steps on my RH9, but I got 'segmentation fault' during setup and setup stopped. What's wrong on my r1p1 file?

Even I have difficulty tracing the plugin. I am not even able to trace the location where it installed. Any clues on that? I had searched the entire hdd for real* and rp*. What is the command line for running it? In Realplayer version 8 it was realplay.

the plugin does not work, it is broken and possibly non-existant.

I am not able to run realplay (the application, not the plugin) from the console. Where does it install by default? I would also be interested in setting up real player plugin for netscape

Thanks

Anyone have detailed instructions on using mplayer to play real media. Mostly interested in a plugin to view real media within a webpage. Thanks.

well, first you install the realplayer from realplayer.com the linux one (yes you still need to) mplayer also has realplayer binary codecs, but I could not make them work for all files, only some. Then d-load all the windows binary codecs from mplayers site. extract all those codecs into /usr/lib/win32

next get the mplayer source 9pre1, pre2 is not plugin compatible yet)
extract and do the configure stuff:
./configure --enable-gui
it should find all the realplayer codec stuff, at the end there is a summary telling you what is and is not supported by default, if it faisl use the extra configure option (./configure --help for list)
then make and make install
after that install the plugin source (never done the plugin, from here you are on yuor own)

Hey guys! Real one installs in /root directory by default which is not accessible by any other user, so I installed it again: made a custom installation this time and selected my path /usr/local/Realplayer9. Also I copied .realnetworks and Real directories from /root to /home/username and changed ownership and also edited each config file in .realnetworks to point to /home/username/Real instead of /root/Real. Then added realplayer to my kde menu and now I can run real one from kde menu.

Anybody figured out the plugin for netscape?
