Help with Unison
I am relatively new to Linux (Ubuntu) and generally very happy. As with many other users, only a few apps are preventing me from making a permanent switch from Windoze.
One of these is/was Second Copy which I used to sync directories. Googling indicated that Unison should so the job, and indeed it does, with a but ... I am syncing from Hardy to a Windows PC. The remote directory is mounted using smbfs in fstab. The first sync, as expected and documented is v e r y s l o w. Once it's done, and I use Unison again afterwards, it's lightning fast ... until I reboot. The checksum files are still present, but it's as if they're not used any more and it all has to be done all over again. Can anybody help ? TIA |
