Help with removing xfce desktop from kali custom iso

Hello I recently made a custom kali iso with all packages I wanted, and set kali-desktop-kde as desktop environment. Now, when I compiled the iso, and booted it up, my default desktop environment is xfce, despite it not even being in list of packages when I chose to compile the iso. Now, if I try to remove it with apt and chroot, it freaks out and wants to remove all kali tools along with it.

Is there a way to remove any and all trace of xfce from my live usb?

If not, at least how can I make kde the default XSession so it boots to that, and the xfce is an option?

When I boot it up, on login screen, when selecting the desktop environment, it shows these:

-Default XSession -Plasma -Xfce sessionusps tracking showbox speed test

Can I make "Default XSession" start up plasma instead of kde?

Plasma IS KDE - they are the same thing. If you login using the Plasma choice, is it set as default then or when the dropdown is set to default, does XFCE come up? I think there is a dot file you can create and drop in your user's /home that says what the default session should be but I can't remember the name of the file.

Here's a general outline of the steps you can follow:

1. Set up a build environment: Prepare a clean environment or virtual machine where you can build the Kali Linux ISO.

2. Obtain the Kali Linux source: Download the source code for Kali Linux from the official Kali Linux website or the Kali Linux GitHub repository.

3. Extract the source code: Extract the source code to a directory on your build environment.

4. Modify the package lists: Locate the package lists for the ISO and modify them to remove the XFCE-related packages. The package lists are usually located in the `config/package-lists/` directory.

5. Update the build configuration: Adjust the build configuration files to exclude XFCE-related packages from being included in the ISO. The configuration files are typically found in the `config/common/` directory.

6. Build the ISO: Run the build process to generate the modified ISO. The build process typically involves running scripts or commands specific to the Kali Linux build system. Refer to the documentation or README files in the Kali Linux source code for instructions on how to build the ISO.

7. Test the modified ISO: Once the build process completes, test the modified ISO in a virtual machine or on a physical system to ensure that XFCE has been removed successfully.

Please note that modifying the Kali Linux ISO involves advanced technical skills and should be done with caution. It's important to have a good understanding of the Linux command line, package management, and the Kali Linux build process before attempting these modifications.

Additionally, keep in mind that removing XFCE from the ISO will affect the default desktop environment, and it's advisable to have an alternative desktop environment or window manager available to ensure a functional system after the removal.
And additiionally, don't pay attention to a spammer who posts hidden spam links that have been reported. This had been closed for THREE YEARS already.
