You could set up Netscape as an icon on your desktop. Right click on an empty place on the desktop, select "Create new link to application" and then fill out the form to run Netscape.

if by default browser you mean you want it to be the browser to open when you open certain file types (.html, .jpg), you have to edit the file associations. you should be able to do it by changing the settings in whatever file browser you are using (konqueror, etc).

Try Edit>Preferences>Advanced>System in Netscape.
