i have a pentam (spelling) 3 and it has linux and xp 2000 on it. i hoped to chaing over to linux but i managed to get linux on line with mozzila but i was not using it as i thought that I could still be sending viruss to frends that had windows. I did not know how to get anti virus for linux. xp has driven me mad and will happely chainge if i can get the linux up to speed

1. Problim is that after xp slowing down my computer i now need linux and it will not boot up can i fix it or update it without loosing all the setings and drivers
2. I have a second computer for the kids and it to will not work so i am looking at seting it up with linux for kids games but i dont allow it to go on line. is there a program that I can downlod to disk and then install to set up this computer. pentum 3 as well

OK. For the P3, you could download something like CentOS, it is stable, and includes programs for everything. version 4.1 comes on a DVD. It is a rebuild of RHEL so you know it is a good product.

For yours, I wouldn't worry about the viruses. Just know which files to watch for, in other words, don't email your friend a Windows executable you downloaded from a porn email . (jk of course). I have yet to email a friend a virus from my Linux computer, with no antivirus protection.
