help with installing/updating xmms and xine

I have just installed SuSE 9.2 and it has Xine 0.99. I want to update this to the newer version and secondly I want to install xmms for wma/mp3 playback. Ideally an rpm for xmms would be great.

Thanks. Im a n00b so...

There is a sticky thread about update sources in the SUSE forum. Have a look for the packman source. You may also look directly at http://packman.links2linux.org/

bulliver: Why do you recommend rpm's for SuSE 9.0? Does that make sense?

pman 03-02-2005 11:33 AM

The rpms work. Ive used redhat rpms on suse aswell.

I just posted links to them, that's hardly a recommendation ;)

Anyway, it was a typo/mistake. Just change 9.0 to 9.2 in the links and you are good to go...

Well, it's the official SuSe ftp site, so I'd say it's a good place to get your RPMs...

Just have a look through there, lots of stuff to install :)

BTW, if you googled but couldn't find anything, mention it in your post, then people like me won't tell you to STFW ;)

But then you actually did a downgrade instead on an upgrade!

pman 03-03-2005 10:30 AM

the versions for 9.2 are the same

abisko00 03-03-2005 11:42 AM

Even if this is correct, what do you gain when you replace them? The version on packman is 1.0, btw.
