Help with Fonts

So, I just installed a bunch of TrueType fonts that I had on my old machine on to this new one. All the fonts worked fine on the old machine (running Mandrake 8.2), but on this machine (running SuSE 8.2), the fonts won't work in the GIMP. They work fine if I view them with tkfont, so I know the fonts work, but the GIMP refuses to use them. Like I said, they worked in the GIMP on the old machine.

Is this a problem with how I installed them (copied them over, then ran fonts-config)? Or do I need a GIMP plugin or something?

TIA all
