When i surf the net (using firefox, or kongquerer) and go to say cnn.com, and
try to watch a video - it fails. The format is windows media player i guess ( the site offers to install something like that for me).
Anyway, i know about mplayer codecs, etc. and have installed them correctly ( i think ).
I went to CNN site and the video page. I was able to watch all the videos on their page. It did ask to D/L an upgrade but I just chose "continue" and it worked fine. I am not sure what format they use but they certainly want you to get the WMP update... which of course is out of the question...
If you still have problems it my be a codec issue... Also try foxnews.com it's better and they use Flash for their videos.
I tried foxnews, and it loaded okay (a bit grainy); But i had no sound. Sound works with the videos i load locally, and i verified that the sound was working while the video was playing. sssssiiiiiggghhhhh..
These little things are the ones that force me to be a damn dual=booter.
I hope 4 some further advice; especially on the original post since most streaming is done using msoft junk.
I still cannot view most of the streamed videos out there. the Exception seems to be fox news. Im wondering if any of you are set up to view the videos on CNN, cbsnews,, etc. If so, please tell me how. I've installed mplayer and codecs and all manner of other things with no luck.
thx..!
