Help with ./configure and KDE Headers

Hello, I just installed and started using Linux a few days ago, so I'm new.

I am having problems installing Kopete. I can't seem to get past the ./configure part. When I type in ./configure, I get this error:

Quote:
checking for KDE... configure: error:
in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail.
So, check this please and use another prefix!
I have tried using rpmdrake and searching for the KDE header files, but it can't find the package. I also downloaded "libkdecore4-devel-3.3.2-123mdk.i586.rpm" (the kdelib package), and when I run it, it says the package is already installed.

I get the same error when I try: ./configure --prefix="/usr"
Note: /usr is what I got when I typed "kde-config --prefix"

I'm using Mandriva LE2005 with KDE 3.3.2

Any help on how to solve this problem is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Code:
#urpmi.update -a
#urpmi libkdecore4-devel
Make sure you have the main, contrib, updates and plf repos setup using the instructions at easyurpmi .

You can probably install Kopete directly using urpmi. This is likely to be easier than trying to compile it yourself.

I got it working now, thanks for the help.

I had to go to Easy URMPI and go through the 3 steps.
Then I entered

Code:
#urpmi.update -a
#urpmi libkdecore4-devel
and it installed the kde libs. I ran ./configure --prefix="/usr" again and it worked.

Thanks again for the help.

When installing KDE applications, its best to do as foobar posted earlier
Code:
./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix`
This makes sure that everything is installed in the right KDE directories.
