HELP: Wine

Hi,

I am trying to install Wine, and I am stuck in step 5.2:

http://winehq.com/site/docs/wine-use...ER-WINEINSTALL

I cannot find wineinstall.

Why don't just get the RPM?

I did install the RPM. But when I typed it into the Command Line or went to Run..., it didn't launch. So I thought I need to do some kind of configuration.

How do I get this programme to run?

If he wants it the .RPM can be found here (just download the one with the latest date)

Try winefile...that is how I get mine open.

Just use the instructions at http://winehq.com/site/howto

Forget wineinstall script crap.

After it is compiled and installed, run "wine notepad" as a normal user. It will then make .wine directory in your home directory and false windows directory for your Windows programs to feel at home.

BTW, sorry I was harsh but the script does not work for all Linux distributions.

Sorry, I don't have the "wine notepad".

All I found was:

exec_wine.png
exec_wine.svgz
winehq.xml
wine.png
wine.svgz

I didn't even get a wine folder. What does that mean? Something went wrong with the RPM installation?

Okay, I got the notepad working. Didn't work before because I locked my firewall. I don't see why it required me to connect though. It doesn't matter.

I don't see any .wine directory in my home folder. And I don't see the windows directory for your Windows programs either.

The . before the directory name means it's hidden, just ls ~/.wine to see the contents.
