HELP! Weird localhost/localdomain name bleed

I've just started using FC3 (my very first Linux OS distro), so I'm slogging through probs here and there...
For a few days, my 'hostname/domainname' (I think that's right) appeared to come up simply as localhost localdomain at the bottom right hand corner of my Fedora login screen. Over those days, I rebooted a number of times. Yesterday I reboot and where it said 'localhost localdomain' down in the right corner, it said 'JIMMYJOYCE' (which was the name of my harddrive before I installed FC3 and wiped Windows XP from it). When I tried to login in, I got the following message "Could not look up internet address for JIMMYJOYCE. This will prevent GNOME from operating correctly. It may be possible to correct the problem by adding JIMMYJOYCE to the file /etc/hosts." Then I have two button options 'Login anyway' and 'Try again'. When I pick the first, my desktop comes up and everything seems fine. Things get stranger, though. I booted up KNOPPIX to figure out some stuff to apply to FC3. I removed the disc I have KNOPPIX on, rebooted the system, and now the name is KNOPPIX instead of JIMMYJOYCE, and it gives me the same message upon login.
This is bugging the crap outta do I fix this?

#lugo The next line is all that was in the file. I am commenting it out.
# debian localhost
#lugo Put in next block to try to get networking. localhost debian apricot
Here's my /etc/hosts file, if it's any help.

It's for a network of two computers, one nicknamed debian the other apricot. You may put whatever you like for 'domain' and 'org'.
