Help w/ stock markets charting/analysis software & streaming data svc.

Hello,

I've found 3 stock/investing/charting programs in Sourceforge, but they aren't available in any deb-based repository* and so have to be installed by hand. Just wondering if there's any market oldie who knows the best foss such software and how to connect it to a preferably free market-data streaming service.

*I'm using Linux Mint 7.1 KDE now and am considering Kubuntu. Still haven't decided which to go with. And I have plenty of computing power.

I'll appreciate any appropriate help. Thanks.

Ray

Good luck with that one. Personally for my own use I wrote a script with "elink -dump" piped through grep awk sed to get the data I needed off of public web pages. It is slow and I would never publish the code itself considering the legal issues of, "It is fine to do this as a home user but not legal to publish" kind of thing. So sorry, I'm not willing to share on the exact details. But it has its issues, such as needing to check the code every 6 months due to changes in the source website format. Coded it to where it will force the data through even if the data was corrupted so it does not come to a screeching halt become one single variable got changes in the source format, ect.
