Help! Updated Java on FC7 and now Firefox dies on THIS forum!!!

Yep... I updated Java per the instructions on Java.com and now my browser craps out when I pull a page that has Java enabled.

I'm typing this using Dillo. :-(

Can someone tell me what happened or how to fix it?

Like an idiot, I did it on the laptop, and all appeared fine. So I did it on the desktop too! :-(

So, I'm using FF 2.0.0.2 on the desktop, and 2.0.0.14 on the laptop.

How can I fix this?? Remove Java altogether? I installed via RPM... The version I installed was jre1.6.0_06.

The instructions I used were here:

http://java.com:80/en/download/help/5000010500.xml#rpm

Please help!

TIA

The Windows way of handling a similar situation would be an uninstall and reinstall.

Of which one? Java or the browser?

I later realize that Firefox 2.0.0.14 was loaded on this machine (desktop) so I ran it from the CLI and no problems other than that it's not configured to my personal settings like my copy of 2.0.0.2 is.

However, I have not yet linked Mozilla to the Java plugin yet.

Ok, so I thought about it and realized the symbolic link was probably tying Java to the browser, and that version (2.0.0.2) of Firefox specifically. That's why 2.0.0.14 was working fine.

So I removed it, and all is well again.

However, I would still live to know why it did this, or if there's something I did wrong?
