Help: Symbolic Link Permission Denied

I am trying to create a symbolic link from one directory within a directory that is automounted.

For example inside a /design automounted directory I want to create a sym link called t101 to c201, I used the command

ln -s /design/c201 /design/t101

I get an error message that says "Permission Denied..."

I am using the root account and I am on the server which has root permission on the nfs (no_root_squash). I guess this has something to do with the automount. But I am not sure where to go from there...

Can someone please help?

Thanks much!

Seems like it's thinking that the sym link is an automounted directory? The only directory that is automounted is the /design/c201

Error Message from /var/log/messages:
