Help > Setting Up RedHat 8.0 Box As Webserver
:Pengy: Please help if you can...
I am setting up a dell box as webserver, i just installed Linux Red Hat 8.0 as a server, i got apache running ok so it seems... what i need to find out, is how to setup FTP access, i saw a program installed KWUftpd that seems to be the ftp server, but it doesnt seem to let me add users, or paths, i dont know what to do, i need a ftp server that allows me to create multiple users, and when logging in, go to their directory on the webserver. Any information would help alot, or any info on setting up what im trying to do. Thanks, Jonathan Cote jcote@attbi.com |

please do not ask a question more than once. this is clearly stated in the rules of the site. |
I am by no means an expert in this area, but I believe any user on your system can ftp in if the daemon is running. When they do they should find themselves in their home directory. If you want to set up more users, you need to add them as a linux user on your server. If you give them all the same home directory they will FTP into the same dir. If this isn't what you want, give them each their own home dir.
There may be more to it than this, but I know I can ftp into my box with my user and get my home dir. If this doesn't do what you are looking for then I would do some googling to find the configuration options for the daemon. PhilD |
Thanks for your reply PhilD, i don't know if its what i was looking for, but it will certainly work for now! :)
acid_kewpie, sorry for the double post, im pretty new here, i just saw the two different forums, and figured my question related to both in some ways, i didnt realize everyone looks in both... sorry... thanks for all the help guys! :D Jonathan |
I am not entirely sure what the problem is, however you firewall setup may (also) be blocking you.
