Help need, Im trying to configure RedHat 7.2 in a compaq laptop

Hi,
I can not manage to make the X work when trying to configure RedHat 7.2 in a compaq laptop. The model of the laptop is compaq presario 1714EA.
Do you know how should i configure it?(meaning the file that controls the Xwindows)
Could someone tell me what should i put in the config file? and how and where should i put it?
Im kind of desperate, i dont know whats going on.

just use Xconfigurator or another one of the X setup utils. read the documentation on how to configure X. it's kind of a pain, don't expect to just be able to hit a few keys and have everything run.

Thanks a lot...
in fact i know that it will be like pain in the a... but the point is that i can not find some documents how to configure it...
Do you know if there are some good documents or simple instructions? It will be great if i can learn by doing...but so far is like hitting my head against the wall, because i dont understand what I have to do and where(meaning which files i have to modify and where are they)

Have u tried just typing startx? try it and see what happens?

Thanks a lot. I know that one but my laptop doesnt appear there. I have checked one that its quite similar...but im not sure if it will help.

Yes thats the first that i did after install was completed. I get some error. The X crash,it doesnt even show anything(meaning even something from the starting of the X). It says "pci error..." I cant remember now and i dont have the laptop here. It say that i should report it to Xfree86@Xfree86.org but...

I guess is some problem in some of the parameters. In fact when running Xconfigurator, when the testing option comes...it returns error and said that something may be wrong...and i can only go back and configure again or exit :-(
