help me with kpackage please
I am running Mandrake 9.1 beta,
And I want to be able to get rpm packages from an ftp site. I s it possible to set kpackage upt o check ftp's for rpms that I can install? If not is there something else I can use to do this? And also can you point me to a good ftp for rpms? I had gotten used to debian and it's apt-get And I would like to be able to do rpm's the same way. Thanks Randy |
Have you looked into urpmi :) you can find it on rpmfind.net not sure if its on the madrake cds

I will check out urpmi as soon as I get all the dependancies installed :) Thanks
And thanks for the site too. |
Ugh!!!
There hasto be an easier way, so far just to install urpmi I have had to dl 15 other rpms and each new one I get needs 5 or 6 other files |
I thought it came standard on Mandrake? It did with 9.0, did they change that for the beta? Personally I love urpmi....although it was a pain to set up properly (and I'm not sure I managed to anyway lol)

I looked thru my remove software, and low and behold there it is so I go to shell and type urpmi, command not found.
I type gurpmi and a box came up that says all packages have been installed So now I just have to figure out how to get it started and how to set it up :D Ok let's assume I figureout how to start it. Can someone walk me thru settingit up to go onto an ftp site see what is available and then install what I want? Thanks |
