I have Counter-Strike 1.5 running on my machine, but I use Slackware 9.0. It was a long hard slog, but I got there in the end. The most difficult part is getting OpenGL working. Once you have done that, its pretty simple to get CS working. I have an nVidia card which have drivers written for Linux. What kind of graphics card do you have?

and here is a half-life HOWto to get you started..
