Red face Help me to find a solution to printer sharing issue

Hello All,

I have a scenario, my Laser printer has to be shared to all my client machines (approx: 30 clients) using one print server. The print server machine shall be either Linux / Windows.

Dont suggest me to take a print sharer for this purpose, We shall use one machine as print server.

My management asking me a suggestion for connecting the printer to windows machine or Linux machine to share. I was confused what decision to make? If I suggest Linux I want to make a point clear why Linux is advantage over windows.

Please some one help me in this regards to take proper decision.

Thanks in advance for your help.

with regards
N.Sampath Kumar

Up front there are two reasons for Linux over Windows:

1) Linux is free - Windows costs money for the license
2) Linux can continue to process and print before-during-after updates while Windows requires reboots at times.

Hope this helps,

It would be nice to know what your current servers are running and how the network is configured. Windows desktop can only support 10 connections so for 30 clients you will need a windows server. As suggest this might require purchasing additional software and maybe hardware.
