Question Help Me! I can't install Java.

Hey everyone,

I seem to have a problem installing Java on my ia64 CentOS machine.

Every time i try to sh the binary file, i get this. Look at the attachment.

The funny thing is, it always blows up at line 86.

Please tell me what the problem is and how to fix it. Thanks!

Out of interest, are you sure you mean "ia64" (as in Itanium) or should that be "x86-64"? The two architectures aren't the same and I don't think there's a JRE for ia64 (at least, I couldn't see a download for ia64 on the Oracle webiste).

Sorry, I made a mistake. It seems that there's no JRE for Itanium for version 7, but there is for version 6 (see the download links on this page). Where possible, though, you should use your distribution's packages (see the link given in post 2 above).
