Help me config XFree (display)

I have a ThinkPad 770z with an installation of Slack 9.1 on it.

The install did not pick up my video card or my display settings.

I manually set the video card, but KDE is still a small window surrounded by a 2 inch black border. How do I get my desktop to fill the entire screen? Im guessing I have to mess around with display settings, but I don't what what to do with them.

Thanks in advance!!

It sounds to me you need to adjust the display settings for xfree86 with respect to your monitor. Have you run xf86config and do you have your monitor's specs handy? You may need to specify them manually during the setup process.

The monitor is actually the LCD of my laptop (thinkpad 770z) Any idea on where I could find specs on a laptop display?
