hi guys,
i am new in linux and i need to know how to up2date my redhat 4 version.
i enterred to the /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources and i added the path of dag but when i am typing up2date i am still having that i must have a licence to make up2date
I don't know what "dag" is, but to get official updates from RedHat, don't you need to have a license?
If you must have RedHat enterprise, then you can always get CentOS, which is a free clone. The latest version is something like 5.2, so you might want to get that instead of updating 4.
If you don't have a licensed copy of Red Hat, then posters to this forum should not be helping you with your upgrades. As pixellany indicated, you should switch to CentOS so that you are running a legal copy. If you don't actually need to run Red Hat or CentOS, then you would probably be better off with Ubuntu or some other easier Linux, as you seem to be somewhat new to this.
Also, please don't post threads with the subject "help me!!!!!!". Most of the people who could provide you with the best help will refuse to even look at the content of your post. It's much easier on everyone (and better for you) to use a subject like "Need help updating Red Hat". But, first, switch to a legal version or get a license for what you have.
I don't think it's actually illegal to use RHEL without a license. The license is necessary to get updates though and hence using RHEL without a license is daft.
dag is only a source for add on packages. You can't get RHEL updates from it.
Also, that repo url you mention is clearly for RHEL 3 and you say you're using 4.
