Since you're new, let me give you a few pointers on asking good questions on forums like this. There are several things you should have done differently in this post.
First, your title needs to be meaningful. "Help me" is not meaningful, and most people will never read it.
Second, before you post, search the web for some info on your problem:

There are plenty of sites that talk about the bug you are describing.
It's generally a good idea just to ask one question per post.
Finally, think about what you're asking before you ask it. Linux has in fact been updated a few times since it's creation over ten years ago, so yes, one can rip dvds on it.
I don't actually know the answer to your question. It's beyond my expertise. But please read through some of websites referenced on the link I just gave you and come back and ask more questions once you've gained more info, and tried a little harder.
