Help installing Kylix 3 on Fedora Core 5

Folks,

I am sure this has been asked before, but I have searched the forum to no avail.

What I am looking for is a definitive list of steps required to properly install Kylix 3 Enterprise onto Fedora Core 5 running on a 32-bit x-86 machine.

Thanks in advance,
-Ken

Thumbs down Still not working...

Hello,

I tried your suggestion, but I get the error in the installer:

error: Failed dependencies:
libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 is needed by kylix3_main_program_files-1.0-1.i386
Unable to install RPM file: 'setup.data/packages/kylix3_main_program_files-1.0-1.i386.rpm'
setup.data/regvers.sh: line 7: /usr/local/kylix3/bin/kylixpath: No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat '/root/.borland/delphi69rc': No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat '/root/.borland/bcb69rc': No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat '/root/.borland/debug69rc': No such file or directory

An error has occured during installation.
Error Code: -10
Setup cannot continue.
If this error persists, please contact technical support.

Install aborted - cleaning up files

In fact, it doesn't seem to matter whether I perform the echo 1 command as suggested in the thread you linked, or export the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL parameter. No combination of issuing or not issuing those commands seems to have any effect on the error.

I am installing this as root.

Please advise!

-Ken

P.S. If you have any suggestions on IDE's to use in Linux in order to graphically create web services that interact with databases, I would be most appreciative. Thanks.

Nevermind folks. I figured it out by looking at the forums on the unofficial Kylix patch site: htp://andy.jgknet.de/oss/kylix/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

The trick is to run the setup command as follows:

./setup.sh -m

This will install Kylix. Now, getting it to actually work is a different story. Once I get it to work, I will post the answer.

Thanks for the update.
