Help: installing Fedora 2: partition not found ?
 

Hi there,

Yesterday, I decide to try to use Fedore Core 2.
I used Partition Magic to create an Ext3 for Linux and below are detail (from partition magic 8):

Type: Linux Ext 3

Space : 10 GB

Status: None (can be set to "Active" - but only the partition contains Windows XP is set to Active, and I tried to set this linux partition to be "active" => reinstall Windows :( )

I think with this configuration, Linux must recorgnize it, right? However, during the installation process of Fedora Core 2, when I come to the partition selection, no matter what I choose ("remove all linux partitions" or keep it - certainly not "remove all partitions" because it will remove also my Windows partitions), the installer said that there is no partition found (!). They said it might be because there is not enough space - but with 10 GB (just created, nothing inside) - this is unlikely.

Anyone can help me?

do not use 3rd party products ... for partitioning..

I belive in Fedora u have DiskDruid .. which will fire up .. when ur installing ... U can use that to parttion ur drive which ever way u like....

Just take extra precaution so that u dont end up ... losing ur windows partition...

no need to use partition magic. just use the partition utility (disk druid) that comes with fedora.

but make sure you know what you're doing so you don't delete winxp.

make that 10gb into free space (not formatted) and using the fedora install to partition, make a scheme similar to this:

~100MB /boot
~9GB /
~1GB swap

but it really depends on your setup and what you want to install. that's just a general outline.

I installed it already ^_^. Fedora Core 2 looks good, excepts that it doens't support my wireless card (D-Link DWL-520+)
