help...installation problem..unique


i ve tried to install redhat9 atleast 4 times. everytime it gives me an error stating :

error in installing nss_ldap-202-5.....some PAM.... and the causes it tells are either media failure,lack of disk space or h/w problem.

i have a 9gb space with the followin partitioning scheme

swap: 120 mb
boot: 250mb
root: 4 gb
home: 4.5gb.

ive even got a new installation cd set n tried to install, bt same problem...
plz help

during installation, have it check for bad blocks.

if hd is problem, try altering partition scheme

I think I have some bad sectors on my hd..but was able to install knoppix by increasing the size of the swap partition so that the bad sectors occur there. That way, during installation, packages installed to /root don't encounter the bad sectors.

It sounds like the media is corrupt, locate the disk that has that package on it, make a new copy of that disk and install again.
