help... gcc-fortran installation

I need to install fortran 77 for suse linux 10.2. I first installed with yast compat-g77-3.3.5_2.i586, but when I tried to install gcc-fortran-4.0.2_20050901-3.i586, I received that there are no installable providers of gcc==4.0.2_20050901-3 for gc-fortran-4.0.2-20050901-3.i586
If anyone have the solution for this problem... I really need to work in this program. Thanks.

The package gcc-fortran-4.0.2_20050901-3.i586 is not from the official opensuse repository. Check your installation sources in Yast: maybe you don't have a "oss" repository enabled. The package coming with opensuse 10.2 should be gcc-fortran-4.1.3-29.i586.rpm.

Thanks, for your help. I followed your instructions, but I still have the same problem. I have found compat-gcc and gcc-fortran versions for suselinux 10.2, but then I needed to find gcc41-fortran installable providers again. I did that, but I have to find another installable providers limbpfr.so.1 that doesn't exist(I couldn't find it). Perhaps I didn't follow installable procedure correctly. What can I do now? Should I install some other version of suselinux to finally solve this problem?!

Yes, maybe something is wrong with the installation procedure. If you have setup a correct repository and use Yast software manager to install packages, it should take care of all the dependencies when you select gcc-fortran for installation.

First, have a look at "Installation sources" or "Software Repositories" (I don't remember how it was called in opensuse 10.2) and check if the OSS repository points to something like ftp://ftp.skynet.be/pub/ftp.opensuse.../10.2/repo/oss. I chosed a mirror in Belgium, but you will chose a mirror near you (only the last part of the path must be the same).

When installation sources are ok, you can open the "Software Management" in Yast and look for gcc-fortran. Check it and all the required packages will be automatically selected. FYI, the shared library libmpfr.so.1 is provided by the package mpfr.

No. It's not necessary in order to solve this issue. Anyway, if you have the chance to do an upgrade or a fresh installation of the newest stable release, openSuSE 10.3, it would be a good idea in my opinion. Or wait till 19-Jun-2008 for the new stable release 11.0.
