Help - cannot uninstall, already removed rpm?

Hi Guys need helpd big time

I have a red hat server which i was installing a backup software on to which used a ingres back end database, will after uninstalling the software i removed some left over program directories. Now when i try to install the software again it complains that part of ingres is still installed

rpm -qa | grep -i ingres
ca-ingres-WV-3.0.2-105
ca-ingres-CATOSL-3.0.2-105

when i run command

rpm -q -l ca-ingres-WV-3.0.2-105

it actually thinks that the files are still installed i.e. displays loads of files, but there is only a blank directory.

Is the rpm database corrupt or something????? please help and thanks in advance.

Try following and let us know the outcome:

#rpm -e --nodeps --force ca-ingres-WV-3.0.2-105
#rpm -e --nodeps --force ca-ingres-CATOSL-3.0.2-105

When i run command

rpm -r --nodeps ca-ingres-WV-3.0.2-105

i get the following errors

/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.25838: line 1: iipmhost: command no found
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.25838: line 43: iisysdep: no such file or directory
error: %preun(ca-ingres-WV-3.0.2-105) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

Weird....and there are no rpm-tmp files in /var/tmp

Typo prolly since "-r" is short for "--root" and you don't need that. Try adding "--noscripts".

This thread is pretty old---you may want to consider starting a new thread. Regardless, please provide more detail on your specific situation.
