I finally have my Mandrake/Postfix email server working, and I have other Mandrake/Samba servers running as well. At last, I am free from Microsoft Windows NT 4/ 2000 Server, and it feels great!! I now find that I need a product that will replace Outlook Web Access. Can anyone recommend a good, easy to install/configure webmail that will work with Mandrake/Postfix? All it needs to be able to do is allow users to send and receive email from their accounts. It doesn’t have to provide shared calendaring and shares notes. I will be most grateful to anyone who can assist me in this.
yeah I have been contemplating using post fix in this way too...
don't know too much about it yet but I know you will prolly need
Apache...and I can't remember the other program... ...anyone??
If you do want calendaring etc (although you said you didn't) moregoupware is quite good - it can do e-mail by itself but it is quite advanced and uses a lot of javascript - it is therefore less portable to different browsers: http://moregroupware.sourceforge.net
Is Squirrelmail easy to install and configure? Pleade note that I am a novice at Linux, all my experiance up to this point has been on Windows with GUI everything. I learned how to use pico to edit configuration files in Linux, so I am willing to try it, but do you think it will be real hard for me to do?
I did it!! I found the Mandrake RPMs for Squirrelmail and Squirrelmail-poutils and tried to install them. It said I needed php-imap, so a quick urpmi php-imap and then install the Squirrelmail packages again, and it is working. Thank you for your suggestion, it was easier than I thought it would be, and way easier to install then Outlook Web Access was! I am now compleetly free from all Windows NT4/2000 servers, now to start switching the desktops.
