help a newbie with Mandrake...

I have installed Mandrake and my computer has 2 video cards. One is onboard and the other is a PCI. I only wish to use the PCI, but xf86config forces me to use the onboard which does not work properly. How can I disable the onboard video?? There is no such option in my BIOS or anywhere else. Thanks!

Since suggesting to turn it off in the BIOS won't work, the motherboard may be one that has a jumper on it in which you would disable the on-board vid. It really has nothing to do with Mandrake unfortunately. I'd go to the motherboard's manufacturer website and see if they have either 1) a BIOS update that perhaps now has the option in it to turn off the vid OR 2) look up the online manual and see if there is such a jumper to remove. There is almost always a way to turn a board feature off.

you should be able to use XFdrake to reconfigure Xwindows to only use the pci card. as for which card to use outside of X, you must have some sort of bios option to actually boot to the pci primarily rather than agp. you wouldn't be able to disable it as such, but simply start using the pci by default.

but then what do you mean by the onboard agp not working? do you mean the hardware is broken or something like xwindows just messes up?
