How do I install/upgrade Firefox? I'm using RedHat 9, and firefox on it is only version 1.x. I downloaded the recent version of Firefox, it was in tar.gz.
So can anyone please tell me howto install?
please use useful thread titles. why not something like "how do i install firefox"?
I assume double clicking the file would sort you out, but my way would be to open a terminal, run "tar zxvf firefox.tar.gz" to decompress it, "cd firefox" to get into it's directory and then run "su" to become root. in that driectory will be a script like "./install-firefox" which should run fine.
# gunzip firefoxpacklage.tar.gz
# tar -xvf firefoxpackage.tar
This will create a firefoxpackage directory.
# cd firefoxpackage.
