ok I'm a noob but I posted this before on newbie section but nobody answered.
what's my problem?
I run Red Hat 9, my internet connection is with a alcatel speedtouch modem so I needed to patch some stuff to get my connection running. everytime I want to start my internet connection i've got to type
>modem_run -m -f /bin/mgmt.o
>pppd call adsl
Everything fine until here, but after a week or so a lot of programs got running slower ... for instance openoffice.org it takes a lot more time to start it up because in the middle it stops loading for a minute or 3. Nautilus takes about a half hour to load (my gui is gnome by the way). that was the first problem a friend whome knows a lot about linux told me it has something to do with the netwerk preferences but didn't gave the solution.
The other and VERY frustrating problem is that I'm not longer able to use my printer, one day I tried to print 2 documents then saw one was wrong and skipped that one ... then my printer started acting bizarre and since he hasn't worked again (I've got cups 1.1.19-7)
localhost:361 doesn't work either and the only error in the cups log file is the following:
unable to bind socket - can't bind requested address
The last part was originaly in dutch and I've translated it freely.
somebody PLEAS HELP ME!!!
