header file extraction ? (.hdr)
I'm trying to install some apps and there's a requirement that I have the source code and the headers. The headers I've found and downloaded from some sites like redhat.com, rpmfind.net and sourceforge all have a .hdr extension. The instructions from my software all state to run a rpm -ivh command on the header and the way the file is listed is:
kernel-header-x.x.x-i386.rpm
IF this is trivial information, how come it's on so many sites for every application and kernel available?
I'd really like to know where the real header files are, or how to use the *.hdr files I have now.
Please don't say up2date because my unix boxes are not on the internet. Only this ms-windows machine is.
Why? Because I'm writing code, beta testing software and don't want to risk the o/ses.
I've searched with google.com but after looking at the 20th page I got tired....
