Hda?

ok cant get linux to see my third hd

primary master: hda ---> lin drive
primary slave: hdb----> win drive
secondary: hdc------> cdrom
secondary:hdd------>cdrom
ATA/100 IDE Controller--->fat32 format no os

comp detects all these drives but i dont know what to do to get linux to see this third hd

ive tried a couple of lines in fstab such as:

/dev/hde1 /mnt/fat32_data vfat defaults 0 0
/dev/hdd1 /mnt/fat32_data vfat defaults 0 0
/dev/hdc1 /mnt/fat32_data vfat defaults 0 0

of course none work

thanks in advance

so it's the FAT32 controller conencted drive you want to see? well it'll be hde/f/g/h...

general ways to get info:

fdisk -l : print all partition tables of attached drives

ls /proc/ide/ : shows ide devices found in the system.

the controller card should be found and initialised as ide2 and 3 if it's a 4 channel card like the CMD46X's there should be a reference to one of these channels if you do erm...

cat /proc/ioports

i think. also try doing something like

cat /var/log/messages | grep ide

all that should give you enough information to see where your problem is, IF there is one. my cmd649 card is always immeditaely detected at low level, perfect every time
