You don't normally need to use hp's installer, most distros include their own - which distro do you use?
The usb cable is easy to test - swap it for one you know works.
Alternatively - try

lsusb

in a terminal - this will list your usb devices. Naturally the printer needs to be switched on.

You can also try:

dmesg | grep print

Printer is listed here as working:
http://openprinting.org/show_printer...280_All-in-one

As I usually recommend make sure you have HPLIP installed, and set it up using the CUPS interface, so go here:
http://localhost:631/
Delete the printer if it's there and add a new one, at one point pick the USB device with printer serial number in it, then later it will choose the right driver for you.

Hi Golgo,
In the navigation bar of your browser (firefox, iceweasel, whatever) type:
http://localhost:631/
If you have cups installed you should see a welcome page headed by
Quote:
Common UNIX Printing System 1.3.7
(maybe your version is different, no worries)
Click on the Add Printer and fill in the correct details for your printer following H_TeXMeX_H's instructions.
cheers,
jdk
